Compensation proceedings turn on evidence, not isolated statements

The Commissioner considered oral and documentary evidence. The owner’s testimony was a significant part of that material. The initial counter-affidavit was not the only evidence available. Later admissions helped resolve the apparent inconsistency. The evidence established employment before the accident. The Supreme Court assessed the record in its entirety. It accepted the Commissioner’s factual conclusion. An isolated denial could not outweigh the complete evidentiary picture. Panganti Vijaya v. United India Insurance Company Ltd. & Ors. | 2026 INSC 9
