Remedial obligations of universities following criminal investigations
require that when regulatory or police proceedings envelop an institution over the alleged generation of fraudulent credentials, lawful mechanisms must strictly preserve the rights of authentic students. Although investigative authorities rightfully impound documents to uncover systemic malpractice, administrative and judicial custodians must not cause widespread hardship or indefinitely block the disbursement of authentic academic records. Independent verification processes established during pending criminal prosecutions must actively identify bona fide registrants to prevent the total paralysis of their academic transitions and livelihoods.
