The jurisdictional court retains discretion over appropriate bail conditions

The Supreme Court directed that bail be granted following appearance. It did not prescribe every individual bail condition. The jurisdictional court was to set conditions it found satisfactory. This preserved case-specific judicial discretion. The petitioners were required to comply with the process. The order also required cooperation in speedy disposal. Bail arrangements were framed to facilitate trial proceedings. The directions must be read in their stated procedural context. Smt. Shalini Bhateja & Anr. v. The State of U.P. & Ors. | 2026 INSC 28
