Disciplinary findings must be supported by the charge and evidence

Two charges were framed against the officer. The second charge was held not proved by the inquiry officer. The first charge concerned four bail orders under the Excise Act. The Court reviewed whether those orders supported the removal. Findings must be tied to evidence proving the misconduct alleged. An unproved charge cannot supply missing support for another charge. The Court found the relied-upon judicial orders insufficient by themselves. The disciplinary outcome was not sustainable. Nirbhay Singh Suliya v. State of Madhya Pradesh & Anr. | 2026 INSC 7
